Why this calculator matters

Full cover sizing is one of the easiest places to make a KDP mistake. If the width is too small, important art can be trimmed. If the width is too large, alignment can shift across the back cover, spine, and front cover.

This tool gives you a fast browser-based estimate using KDP paperback spine factors and standard bleed handling. It is ideal for planning canvas size before you export your final PDF or image files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate full KDP cover dimensions?

Full cover width is two times trim width plus spine width plus outer bleed. Full cover height is trim height plus top and bottom bleed.

Should I include bleed in my KDP cover dimensions?

If your interior uses bleed, you should include 0.125 inches of bleed on all outer edges of the full cover. No-bleed books use the trim size without that extra outer bleed.

Can I upload these dimensions directly to KDP?

Use these dimensions for planning and design checks, but always verify against the latest official KDP cover template before final upload.
