Coloring books
- A coloring book now takes up to 8 characters, up from 5, each with their own picture and name.
My Characters
- Save a character once and use them in any coloring book, story coloring book, illustrated story book or activity book. Find them under My Characters in the sidebar, where you can add, edit and delete them.
- When you create a book, choose My Characters in the character step and tick who is in it. Adding someone new? Tick Save to My Characters to keep them for later books.
- Type @ in your book's description to pick a saved character by name and add them to the book. The same works in the box where you ask for a page to be redrawn, which draws that character into the page. To take someone added with @ out of the book, delete their @name from your text.
- A black-and-white character works in an illustrated story book too. We draw a colour version the first time, then use the same one in your later books. It appears on the character's card. Any colours in the description are used, and changing the description gives them new colours in your next illustrated book.
- Saved characters are kept until you delete them. Books you have already made keep their own copy.
- An AI agent connected to your account can use them too. It sees who you have saved, asks which of them to use, and puts them in a coloring book, story coloring book or illustrated story book. It can also save a new character for you when you ask.

Flashcards
- A new Flashcards creator under Activities. Describe the cards in your own words (say, farm animals, with a tractor and a barn) and who they are for, and every card gets one thing from what you described, drawn once, with its word. The deck is named for you.
- Two templates, shown as a picture of the sheet:
- Picture + word: square cards with the picture and its word under it, six to a US Letter sheet. Cut along the dashed lines.
- Fold and glue: the picture on one half of the card and the word on the other, with a short fact for older children. Cut, fold on the dotted line and glue for a two-sided card, with no duplex printer needed. Three to a sheet.
- Full-colour cards, each in its own bright colour with the picture set on it like a sticker and the word on a pill, or black-and-white outlines for children to colour their own cards. Ask for your own colours in the description ("pastel pink and blue cards") and the cards use those instead.
- Every sheet prints on one side, with a blank page behind it, so a double-sided printer never puts one sheet's cards on the back of another's.
- 12, 24, 36 or 48 cards, at 1 credit a card whichever template you pick: 24 cards is 24 credits.
- Cards in another language: write the description in that language, or ask for it ("in Spanish"). The words and facts print in it, including Hindi, Nepali, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean; for those and for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian the cutting instructions on each sheet are in that language too.
- Optional card template: upload a flashcard you like (or a design for one) and every card is made like it: the way its pictures are drawn, its border and corners, and where the word sits and how it looks, with each card in its own colour built from the sample's. Its own picture and word are never copied. On fold-and-glue cards both halves are in the design.
- Flashcards have their own filter in your projects.
- A Flashcard Maker page explains what the decks are, with examples and ready-made decks that open the creator with the description filled in. Flashcards are now in the site menu, the footer and the FAQ.

Story books: a long story asks first
- The page templates have plainer names: One page, one picture, Two-page picture and Text page + picture. The descriptions under the tiles are gone; the pictures show the page.
- If the story you wrote or uploaded is too long for the template you picked, pressing Create now tells you how far over it is before anything is ordered, and offers to make it as Text page + picture, where the words get a whole page of their own. You can also go back and edit. Before, the book was refused after you ordered it.
- A "Text page + picture" book's picture pages show in your library at the same size as its word pages, instead of as squares.
- A "Text page + picture" book with an odd page maximum (3, 5, ...) no longer fails while writing its story.

Story books: pick the page template
- A new Page template step when you make a story book, shown as pictures of the finished page rather than names. Three to choose from:
- Picture + words: one picture filling each page, with that page's words in the calm sky along the top. For readers up to 9 the illustrator letters the words into the picture itself (printed at 8.5×8.5 or 6×9); for older readers the words are typeset over the picture.
- Picture book (the usual choice): every picture is shared by two pages, pages 1 and 2, then 3 and 4, running straight through the fold, with each page's words in a band along the top. Only an odd book's last page has a picture of its own, and a pasted story gets an even page count when your maximum allows it. The band grows and the type shrinks with the reader's age.
- Story page + picture: the story on a whole left page, the picture on the right, for a story with more to say.
- The same three pictures are under Template on the chat's settings bar.
- Bigger words in the band: 30pt for ages 3–6 and 24pt for 6–9 (up from 26 and 20), with every older age a step up too. A page holds a little less text, so a long story takes a page or two more.
- Picture-book pages print edge to edge, with bleed on or off. With bleed off the picture used to sit inside a half-inch white frame; it now fills the page while the words keep their margins. A thin white strip also used to sit down both sides of an 8.5×11 page, because the picture is drawn a little narrower than the page; that strip now carries on the picture's own edge as a mirror of it, and nothing is cropped.
- In a "Story page + picture" book the library shows each spread's words on its story page (the left one), with the picture page beside it bare, as the book prints. The second spread's words used to appear under the wrong page.
- Page previews now show the words the way the PDF prints them: cream lettering with a soft dark wash over a dark picture, dark lettering over a light one. Before, every preview drew dark words, which read as unreadable over a night scene even though the printed page was fine.
- "Words in Picture" and the connected two-page image are no longer offered when ordering. Books already made in them still open as before.
Story review shows the words only
- The "What the picture shows" box is gone from story review. Notes you write among your own story ("Illustration direction: ...") still steer that page's picture without being printed.
Book cover: the right size for your own cover images
- The upload boxes for your own front and back cover now say the exact size to make them for the trim size you picked, with bleed, at 300 dpi. For an 8.5" x 11" book that is 8.625 x 11.25 in, or 2588 x 3375 px. Larger files of the same shape are fine too.
- If an image is the wrong shape for your trim size, you are told before you generate that it will be centred on the cover with a blurred strip of the picture filling the gap, and what size to make it for an exact print. Change the trim size and the note updates.
- If an image is the right shape but too small to print sharply, you are told that too.
- The old limit that rejected files larger than about 1450 x 1450 px is gone, so a cover made at print size is accepted.

Story books start with one less click
- After you choose Standard or Premium, your story book starts right away. There is no second "Generate Book" window to confirm.
Story books read like a story
- Story books where we write the story now tell it in plain, everyday sentences. Pages no longer fill up with scenery and sound effects that read more like a poem.
Story review: problems pop up
- If a page cannot be saved, or the story cannot be approved, the reason now opens in a popup instead of a line of red text you might scroll past.

One dashboard for everything
- Story books, coloring books and activity books are now all made from one dashboard. The sidebar lists Coloring, Activities, Stories and Tools together, with no more switching between two dashboards.
- The library shows every kind of book you have made, with a filter for each.
- Old links to the story dashboard open the same dashboard.
More tools for editing a page by hand
- A tool bar down the side of the page editor, with new tools beside the pencil and eraser.
- Line, rectangle and circle, drawn by dragging. Hold Shift for a straight 45° line, a square or a perfect circle. Rectangles and circles can be an outline or filled black.
- Fill: click inside an area to fill it black, or switch to white and click a mark to wipe it, along with every line joined to it.
- Clear area: drag a box to wipe everything inside it white.
- Text: click where it should go and type. Drag the handle to move it, Enter places it and Shift+Enter starts a new line. Text can be solid black or hollow outline letters for coloring in, at any size.
- Smooth lines steadies shaky pencil and eraser lines. It is on by default and can be turned off.
- Reset takes the page back to how it was when you opened it. Undo brings your edits back.
- Editing by hand still does not use credits.
Logged out: a clear way to log in
- The library no longer shows an empty "Your library" and a download deadline when you are not logged in. It asks you to log in to see your books, with a button that opens the log-in window right there.
- On the book creators, the recent projects panel asks you to log in instead of saying "No projects found".

Edit a page by hand
- Every page of a coloring book, story coloring book, educational coloring book or activity book now has an Edit button, on the page tile and in the page viewer.
- It opens the page with a pencil and an eraser. The brush size can be changed with a slider, and a stylus draws thicker the harder you press.
- Undo and redo, zoom up to 6×, and a Move tool to drag around a zoomed page (or hold the space bar). On a phone, Move is how you get around a zoomed page, since a finger on the page draws.
- Save page replaces the page in your book at the same size it prints at, so it still fits your KDP trim size and bleed. Export the PDF again to get the book with the edited page.
- Editing by hand does not use credits.
- Pages in color, such as a color-by-number answer key, cannot be edited by hand.
Regenerate
- On activity books, the button that has the AI redraw a page is now called Regenerate, so it reads apart from Edit.
- Every regenerate button now shows a refresh arrow.
